Linda was born at home back in the good ole 80s. When it came time to have babies of her own, she knew natural birth was the way for her! Linda has had eight natural births--three in hospital, five at home, and all amazing. Her first child was born after she graduated with honors from Brigham Young University with a degree in biology. After her second child was born, Linda decided that becoming a childbirth educator just couldn’t wait. She worked hard to certify with CAPPA and create a flexible, thorough curriculum. She finished certifying right before fat, happy baby #3 came along! And now, she happily prepares her birth classes when baby #8 sleeps.
Linda believes that mamas are most likely to have a peaceful birth if they prepare broadly, rather than focus on one "method' or comfort technique. Her greatest desire as a teacher is for parents to feel proactive, powerful, and super pumped about having a baby. Linda is prepared to help moms achieve a natural birth in hospital, at home, or in a birth center. If natural birth is not part of the plan, Linda is happy to help moms prepare to have the smoothest possible experience navigating a medical birth. At this time, Linda maintains a professional membership at Evidence Based Birth in order to have full access to their trainings and in-depth research materials. Linda and her family love adventures in cities or National Parks, reading as much as possible, dancing all the time, watching Studio Ghibli films, and making decadent desserts. (Maybe you’ll get to sample some at class...along with all the healthy snacks, of course). FAQS |
Do you only teach natural birth? My main focus is on helping mamas achieve a natural/low-intervention birth in whatever setting they choose. However, I delight in creating custom classes to help all moms feel informed and peaceful at their birth. I can help you prepare for a positive birth at home, in a birth center, or in hospital.
What if I don't want to go natural? Is your class still worthwhile? Ultimately, every birth story is unique, and no woman knows what her story will be before it happens. There are women who plan on going natural who end up making other choices...and there are women who plan on an epidural and don't/can't get one. There are women who plan on going natural until something different arises in the final weeks of pregnancy. You simply don't know, so it's best to be prepared. If you desire to feel confident and prepared about birth and becoming a parent, yes, my class is worthwhile.
Are you a doula? Would you attend my birth? I am not certified as a doula. I am a CAPPA Certified Childbirth Educator (CCCE), and my role is to teach classes and help mamas prepare before baby comes. By taking Nouvelle Birth classes with your support person, you will both be prepared to have an awesome birth. Some mamas desire knowledgeable female support while in labor (especially in hospital), and there are many advantages to hiring a doula, if you so desire.
When should I start attending classes during my pregnancy? Whenever you want, and the earlier the better. Around 16 weeks is a good time. Most traditional birth classes recommend a woman take a class during her 2nd or 3rd trimester--but you will be able to make a bigger difference in your pregnancy/birth/parenting experience if you take classes earlier. That being said, you could attend classes as late as 39 weeks and still learn crucial skills that change the course of your mama journey.
Should I bring anyone with me to class? Yes, please! Each mama should bring her support person. If you happen to have 2 support people, (like a husband plus a mother, sister, or friend), contact me to see if there's room for both support people to attend a given session.
How many couples can attend a given class session? Between 1 and 4.
How do I know which sessions happen on what date? Sessions are scheduled individually based on client availability; most classes are private, but groups of up to 4 couples are possible.
Why can't I register for 4 or 5 classes? The six class sessions are meant to work together. The single class (up to 3 sessions) option is available for those who have a very limited time frame. Ultimately, Nouvelle Birth is intended to be flexible and fit your schedule. If you feel strongly about getting only 4 or 5 of the classes, send me a message. The All 6 price is only available if you register for All 6.
What happens if I can't make a class I said I would attend? Give me as much notice as you can, and we will reschedule.
What if I decide last minute (less than a week away) that I want to schedule a session? Give me a call or text and we'll see if a time is available.
